A service rig is a piece of apparatus that can be driven long spans within the oil wells for servicing and maintenance purposes. Usage of service rigs becomes extremely important in productive wells when it comes to ensuing periodic maintenance. However, apart from cleaning a well or replacing its components, service rig is also required when a well needs to shut down. Crews used rigs to finish tasks associated with shutting down of a well and ensure safety factors too.
