Definition - What does API-Certified mean?

API Certified is a classification that identifies the licensed organizations belonging to the petroleum industry, which have passed the quality test and complied to the specifications set by the American Petroleum Institute. There are different certifications that the organizations need to comply with, in order to become API Certified and be able to sell their products.

An API Certified organization that deals with oil and natural gas services, simply implies that the organization has met the specifications of the American Petroleum Institute. API Certified organizations worldwide have to undertake these certification tests in order to pass the standard quality protocols set by the API. If an organization is API certified, the products manufactured or sold by it meets with the requirements of the customer and are according to the international value standards and safe for use.
