Definition - What does MBPD mean?

Thousand barrels per day (MBPD) is a unit of measurement of crude oil and petroleum products produced, processed or consumed on a daily basis.

MBPD is the acronym of thousand barrels per day and it is the same as MBOPD, which stands for thousand barrels of oil per day. Operators that pump out crude oil typically quote the daily production in MBPD or barrels per day (BPD).

Petropedia explains MBPD

Thousand barrels per day (MBPD) is equal to 1000 BPD (barrels per day), which is a measure of oil output from a well. This simply means that the number of barrels of oil produced in one day by an exploration and production company or the amount of crude oil processed into petroleum products by a refinery in one day will be measured in BPD and can be converted into MBPD.

1 MBPD = 103 BPD

In the crude oil trading index, the pricing of petroleum liquid is done based on either MBPD or BPD and is commonly quoted in dollars per barrel.
