Tubing-Retrievable Safety Valve is valve that enables the configuration of the internal components during the completion process. It can be retrieved as a main component of production tubing string. The valve offers leak resistance to maintain the internal or external pressures and is also compatible with other fluids. It is designed to run in hostile environments so as to extend life applications of devices.

Tubing-Retrievable Safety Valve is usually present in oil or gas wells and is unidirectional in order to avoid the backward flow of wellbore fluids. It is installed in the tubing string to maximize the flow area and permit wellbore access from the coiled tubing. The main function is to provide high volume capability and reduce the back pressure on the formation during the completion process. Moreover, the TRSV is the external control line used to secure the running string for the surface control system. As the valve is designed to protect the tubing string it should be made in accordance with the API and ISO standards.
